Biography Dr. Feng Xiao, 41, of Peoria Heights, IL, passed away at 4:32 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2007, in McLean County, IL. Dr. Xiao was born on October 28, 1966, son of Zongxiao Xiao and Yanan Guo, in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, P. R. China. He married Hongyi Li on June 19, 1996 in Chengdu. He is survived by his wife, Hongyi Li and their eight-year-old son, Yixin Xiao, both of Montgomery Village, MD; his parents of Chengdu; sister, Lan Xiao of Chengdu; and his mother and father-in-law, Liyouquan Li and Yunlin Song of Montgomery Village, MD. Dr. Xiao graduated from Chengdu Number 7 High School in 1984. He received his BS from Beijing University in 1988 and MS from Beijing University in 1991, both in International Studies. He received his Ph.D. from the School of International Studies, University of Miami in 2004. Just three months ago, he began his new position, as Assistant Professor of International Studies, at Bradley University in Peoria, IL. Dr. Xiao was a member of the Peoria Chinese Christian Church. Dr. Xiao published two books in China and prepared numerous articles and presentations. He received many professional and academic awards, throughout his career. Dr. Xiao hobbies were reading and collecting books, collecting family photos, watching movies and enjoying life with his family and friends. He enjoyed any sport that his son was involved with or participated in. He also enjoyed Chinese Folk music and “Kuan Rong” was his favorite. His favorite times were spent with Jianxin Wang, Yimin Fang, Hongyong Shi, Hua Jiang, Liqing Xiao, Jianfei Cheng, Hengshong Zhang and many more. Dr. Xiao had a good and gentle heart and was willing to sacrifice anything for his family and friends. He was very devoted to his work and was a young, talented and brilliant professor. He will be remembered and honored by all of his family, friends, students and colleagues. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 16, 2007 at Woodland Baptist Church in Peoria, with Pastor Caleb Chen, from the Peoria Chinese Christian Church, officiating. A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2007 at Clary Funeral Consultants in Peoria. Cremation rites will be accorded, following the visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to his son, Yixin Xiao, at Chase Bank, 801 W. Lake, Peoria, IL 61614. The family sincerely thanks everyone for all of their good hearts and strong support, while they are going through such an overwhelming tragedy. May Peace & Love be with you! |
